History

After many years as a teacher, Dr. Sherry C. Adams, began to realize how crucial a mother is to a child. It became apparently clear that a mother's love could change the entire aspect of a child's life. During her tenure as a teacher her motto was, "to love each and every child she taught as if they were her very own."

In 2001, she completed a, "Women in the Bible" class at Elizabeth Baptist Church. The women's bible group literally changed her life!!! She realized how much information the bible had in ministering to women in every possible situation of their life.

In September 2004, Dr. Adams had an extreme desire to want to help women with their walk with God. Even though she had a burning desire, the timing was not right. After much meditation and prayer, the Lord spoke to her and said once he gave her the name of the ministry, she would be ready to go forth.

In November 2004, Dr. Adams participated in a spiritual fast at her church, Emmanuel Tabernacle. At the completion of the fast the Lord gave her the name of the ministry she would birth. The name would be, "The Women of the Well." Dr. Adams was familiar with the Woman at the Well, but she could not understand why the "at" was turned to "of" After completing a word study, she realized the word "of" meant coming from or produced by, belonging to.

It became apparent that the women who would come from this ministry would share in the belief about the one who brings us living water so we will never thirst again. We would tell those who have not met Jesus, "To Come See a Man." From this experience, the Woman at the Well changed an entire city.

On January 18, 2005 this ministry held its first bible study in the home of Dr. Adams. There were 22 eager women present who were anxious to learn and have a closer walk with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is our hope that the Women of the Well Ministry would also have the faith and belief in God that with His help, we too, can change a home, a community, a city, a state, a nation, and the world, one woman at a time.

On January 19, 2007, this ministry conducted its first spirit-filled worship service where we are reaching the lost and teaching the found. In this ministry, you will be equipped to go out into the world and spread the Word of Jesus Christ.

I heard the Lord's voice saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am, Send Me" And He said, "Go, and tell this people".....Isaiah 6:8-9
